HeartyGrub is a mobile app that connects a food finder and a local home cooker so users can enjoy a warm meal in a way that is similar to how their family prepares meals at home.

The home cooking team asked me to use UX tools to empathize with users to encourage an effective app experience. From these results, they want a design prototype. The best approach to empathize with users is to put yourself in situations they might be in, so creating a user persona and putting them in potential scenarios would be helpful. Then, create a wireframe to plan and build the final prototype.

User Persona

This is Sebastian, and he was chosen as a persona to represent the food finder user who is looking for a home-cooked meal. His age, location, and occupation are the average of food finder users that would use this service: users in their 20s, 30s, or 40s, located in a larger city, and an occupation or a combination of occupations that occupies most of their day. Sebastian will guide the designer in the design process by considering the needs and motivations of someone who does not want to leave their location for comfy food, needs more recommendations, and provides services to fill that missing home-styled food void.

User Scenarios

How Do These Scenarios Consider Sebastian’s Needs?

This scenario is an everyday occurrence, not only for Sebastian but for everyone. Searching for food recommendations manually takes effort, trying to find your food delivery because the delivery person accidentally dropped it off at the wrong door is annoying and nerve-wracking. Especially on those days when you're tired from being at work, school, or both all day. These are needs that designers have a duty to serve and solve.

What Was The Thought Process Behind The Design Wireframe?

The wireframe was influenced by Sebastian’s motivations, frustrations, and user scenarios. I wanted to address these issues of the user needing to preschedule an order because some individuals do not have time and accidentally drop it off at the wrong door through implementing functional solutions. Before the user completes the order, they have a “set delivery option” and can preschedule for a later time if needed. While the delivery person is transporting the meal items, the user has the option to communicate with them before the items are placed at the location to ensure the order does not get placed somewhere other than the issued location.
